cartier santos 100 mens w20073x8 watch Breitlings we wrote

One of the cartier santos 100 mens w20073x8 watch Breitlings we wrote about last week had the name Super Ocean on the face (the first one here), and we absolutely loved it. The Super Ocean that we've found today is from the same vintage, but a wholly different beast. This vintage Breitling (circa 1965) has a really interesting chronograph function. The large hand with the square on the end is not a seconds hand, in fact it is a minute counter hand. When the chronograph is activated, it moves slowly, one minute at a time, and as far as we can tell, there is no seconds register. Also, because it is not cartier santos 100 mens w20073x8 watch apparently obvious that the chronograph is working without a seconds hand, the aperture above 6 o'clock fills in with a black disc when activated. If this isn't a cool and interesting chronograph, we don't know what is.This vintage Breitling Super Ocean is selling for under $5000, which is a lot for this mark and this year, but this is quite a rare piece and one we think is worth the extra dough. From time to time, we feature a watch that is closely associated with a tragedy. One example of this was the 1972 Longines Munich Edition, which will always be tied to the brutal killing of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches. Today we are cartier santos 100 mens w20073x8 watch bringing you a watch that was issued and worn by the Deutsche Heer (German Army) during the second World War. Yes, this is a Nazi's watch. Produced by Zenith in 1940, this watch good original condition, measures 35mm without the crown, and features German property markings. It has a black face with a sub-seconds dial, and comes on a brown calf-skin strap. It is your typical military watch, and small, but from a storied Swiss manufacturer. This watch is hand-wound and is selling for a very reasonable price of $599. We don't know too much about Zenith's cartier santos 100 mens w20073x8 watch relationship with the Deutsche Heer but this watch was produced and issued right in the heart of the conflict, and we are sure the wearer bore witness to, and quite possibly enabled, some horrific acts. We don't know the true history of this watch, but we can guarantee there are some stories to be told, for better or worse. cartier mens w20011c4 watches want to flood the commercial

The reason being they didn't cartier mens w20011c4 watches want to flood the commercial market with service pieces so that the Mimo brand retained some prestige. There are reports that the majority of the pieces were indeed smashed, which gives you an idea of the Germans' mentality at that point...they'd listen to just about anything, no matter how ridiculous. The Mimo watch we've found here is in excellent, original condition and dates to 1940-1942. It has a large black dial with a subsidiary seconds hand that reads "Anti-Magnetic" on it. As the seller states, even cartier mens w20011c4 watches though it is only 35mm, it wears rather large becaue of the thin case and bezel. It is undeniably cool looking, and with a Girard-Perregaux movement inside it, it can't be bad. It is made even cooler by the story that Mimo Watch Company ordered a horological genocide of sorts on their military watches, and this one survived. Price for this World War II relic is $995. Click here for details.

The watch you see here was constructed by the Mimo Watch Company in the early 1940s for the German Military. Not our favorite group of guys ever, but an cartier mens w20011c4 watches interesting story none the less. We've featured a Nazi watch or two in the past, including this great Zenith with German property markings on the case back. The Mimo here is intriguing for a few reasons. First, of course is that it was the property of a member of the Axis powers. Second, is that the Mimo Watch Company, which most of you have cartier mens w20011c4 watches surely never heard of, was actually owned by Girard-Perregaux, which hopefully some of you have heard of. Third and definitely the most interesting about this watch is that after World War II ended, Mimo demanded that all service-issue watches be destroyed. Yes, watches given to German military men and those that hadn't even left the factory yet were to be smashed.

IWC Aquatimer IWA1320 watches interesting design of two small

It features a very IWC Aquatimer IWA1320 watches interesting design of two small, 28mm analog instruments (a quartz watch and standard compass) sitting atop each other. It also came with a digital alarm tool and map guide. By turning the compass case, it can be removed and replaced by either the alarm or map guide, really a very useful design. It was also made out of titanium, was waterproof to 10ATM, and was anti-magnetic, shock-proof, and all around just bad ass. It was a perfect watch for a south american group of militant revolutionaries that may or may not have been funded directly by the sale of narcotics. We have found you an original early 1980s Fieldmaster with all the trimmin's. It IWC Aquatimer IWA1320 watches includes the original watch, compass, digital alarm, and map tool. It also comes on the original strap (with buckle!) and even the original hang tag. Everything is working perfectly, and it is being offered for $845. This price is on the higher side for an early 80s Seiko but considering this watch's history and the condition (and the fact that these are hard to find), we think there will be plenty of people interested in this watch at this price. Click here for the details of this 1980s Seiko Fieldmaster, the watch worn by the Contras of Nicaragua.

We have featured a lot of military watches here on Hodinkee, with the majority of them coming from World War II and the various conflicts of the 1950s and 60. It is rare to find a military piece closely associated with a skirmish of the 1980s (we'll call it a skirmish, others would call it a conflict, still others, a ghost-war). We are talking about the Contra War, which was launched in Nicaragua via a $20million loan from former IWC Aquatimer IWA1320 watches Hollywood star Ronald Reagan. We aren't going to give you too much of a history lesson, Wikipedia can take care of that. But we will give you the basics. After the fall of dictator Anastasio Debayle in 1979 at the hands of the Sandinistas (yes the inspiration for the epic Clash album), the US Government realized they had a problem on their hands. The Sandinistas had the help of the USSR and Cuba, in fact the Soviets had given them over $1billion in aid. To stop the growth of their Socialist agenda, the US backed the Contras (essentially composed of anyone against the Sandinistas) at times very underhandedly. After all, IWC Aquatimer IWA1320 watches Congress had prohibited the funding of the Contras in 1983 (but Reagan found a way around that). It has been suggested that the Contras were funded also by sales and even that they were responsible for the development of Crack in Southern California, but again, you can read about that elsewhere. What we have found for you today is a watch called the Seiko Fieldmaster. It is commonly referred to as the Contra watch, because this was the watch worn by Contras in the early 1980s.

Breitling Airwolf BW1001 watches great choice if you were going to be fighting some Sandinistas

The Seiko Fieldmaster would be a Breitling Airwolf BW1001 watches great choice if you were going to be fighting some Sandinistas, but in Afghanistan back then, your likely foe was a Russian. For one particular CIA agent, he chose a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date in stainless steel. In fact, he chose the very watch you see to the left. Yes, this vintage Rolex was worn by an American spy stationed in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation of 1980. This Rolex was his wrist companion during his mission abroad for a few reasons; Rolex is known for being very accurate (this model is a Superlative Chronometer), durable (famous Oyster case), and above all else, a Rolex is as good as gold, no matter what country you're in. If you get into a sticky situation and someone is demanding some your head or some liquid assets, you can slide this stainless steel beauty right of your wrist and hopefully escape to fight another day. What makes this watch really attractive to us, besides the Breitling Airwolf BW1001 watches very James Bond provenance, is the original black dial with baton markers and matching hands. You just don't see a Rolex that looks like this every day. Couple the Rolex name with unique looks and a CIA past, and you've got a watch we'd buy any day of the week. This 1970s Rolex is being offered for a very fair price of $2495. Also, whoever purchases this watch will be given the name of the CIA agent who owned it, so you can continue to research just who this international man of mystery was!Click here for the details of this 1970s Rolex Date owned by a CIA Agent on assignment in Afghanistan.
